Quote Of Note

By  |

“Institutionally, the presidency is walking all over Congress at the moment. If we are to maintain our institutional prerogative, that may be the only way we can do it.”
– Senator Arlen Specter, R-Pa.

He’s talking about proposing legislation to cut off funding for the NSA’s warrantless wiretapping program if Congress doesn’t get some answers soon.

More here.

I’m starting to really have respect for Arlen. I’m going to add him to the list of politicians I like.

Man, are they still on that “warrantless wiretapping on American citizens” shtick?

I thought that was debunked a while ago. President Bush only spoke about that at every event since its inception about its purpose. This isn’t rocket science Arlen, stop buying into Democrat rhetoric and show some vertebrae for once.

    GO Arlen!

The simple antidote to too much presidential power is for Congress to discover its balls.

To which I should add, as much as I’ve enjoyed havcing Arlen as my Senator, I never would have bet on him to be the first to find them.

I’m with you, Meredith. Brian, if you can honestly consider Sam Alito’s “signing statement” idea as Constitutionally legitimate, then we have a very different view of what it means to be moderate.

I can respectfully disagree with a conservative, but not with a reactionary. This has gone too far.

Arlen, though a poitician, has always had balls … as a D.A. and as a Senator. He will apply rhe pressure as he sees fit.
