Denver’s Best Breakfasts
All around Denver each morning, thousand of people flock to their local breakfast joints. Some are starting a busy new work day, others are slowly (and groggily) dragging themselves out of bed, and a select few are still continuing from the previous night. In any situation, breakfast is probably the most comforting and energizing meal of the day.
So whatever your state of mind may be, the following are a few suggestions for some of the best bets for breakfast around Denver.
Snooze – Although the name may suggest otherwise, hundreds of people pass through the doors of Snooze in the early morning hours each day. Perhaps one of the most popular breakfast joints in town, this hip breakfast joint offers unique twists on classic American breakfast dishes including the chicken fried steak smothered in homemade tomato-gravy and the pineapple upside-down pancakes. Make sure to get here early in order to miss out on the line. Click here to read a full review of Snooze.

Breakfast King – Although its name and initials may remind you of the popular greasy fast-food chain with a creepy mascot, Breakfast King is a place to be appreciated. When you walk into the front door, you are immediately taken back in time to the days of waitresses named “Flo”, and every customer being named “Hun”. Because it is open 24/7, the crowd can get quite diverse. No frills here, but the large portions of classic American diner food make this is the perfect place to call home after a night of debauchery.

Delectable Egg – Situated in the heart of downtown, the Delectable Egg is a local favorite. The interior decor gives off a warm and comforting vibe, and the service is fast and friendly. Although the focus here is on eggs (who would have thought?) they also offer an amazing variety of skillets, waffles, pancakes, and french toast. This is a great place to start your day, as well as overhear conversations amongst other tables about the previous nights activities.

Dixon’s – Located in the historic Henry Lee bulding at 16th and Wazee, Dixon’s provides a unique atmosphere along with timely, friendly service. Often the winner of “Best of Denver” awards, Dixon’s is a great place to check out whether you are with friends, family, or simply by yourself. They offer an extensive breakfast menu, including unique variations on classic American cuisine, as well as popular southwestern-style dishes such as huevos rancheros and eggs Mazatlan (with green chilis, gaucamole, and tortilla). Click here to read the full review.

The Intermission Cafe – After a long night out on the town, the best place to dine is usually a place with a quiet, soothing atmosphere. Intermission Cafe is exactly that sort of place. Located on 17th Street between Glenarm and Treemont in downtown Denver, Intermission Cafe provides great breakfast food at a great price. They don’t serve up your typical greasy breakfast foods, instead their food is light and fluffy, with the perfect balance of flavor. Click here for a full review.

Duo – This cozy eatery offers diners a unique and relaxed environment located in one of Denver’s hippest neighborhoods, the Highlands. Chef John Broening has created an experience that can best be described as a mix between American comfort food with a touch of French innovation. Duo works with local growers and suppliers to bring patrons the best of the freshest food possible. If you go here on the weekend you will most likely be waiting in line, but it’s more than worth it.
