The Boys Are Back In Town

Do you remember the song “The Boys Are Back in Town?” by Thin Lizzy: “ Spread the word around….The boys are back in town, the boys are back in town”. It is true. And by boys I mean MEN and by MEN I mean Hockey Season is here.  Now it is true our Colorado Avalanche are opening the season against the reigning Stanley Cup champions the Chicago Blackhawks, Thursday October 7 at the Pepsi Center, game time 735pm.

But that is not the best news. The best news is the opening ceremonies will bring together the 1996 Stanley Cup Winning Team. So you will see current studs Cody McLeod, Matt Duchene and hopefully a healthy Milan Hejduk skating with their teammates against the Blackhawks; and also get a chance to view Captain Joe Sakic and Peter Forsberg with their 1996 teammates on the ice once again.

The reuniting of the team that bought Denver its first championship establishing a pattern of swagger and superiority is a culmination of two days of festivities.  Hockey Season is here…the Men are Back in Town…in all their manifestations— the current and the past together for one night.  Join the celebration and sing at the top of your lungs: “ Friday night they’ll be dressed to kill….The drink will flow and the blood will spill…And if the boys wanna fight, you’d better let them…The  boys are back in town”!
