“Metalhead” Movie Coming

So, there’s this dude in Iceland who made a film called “Bjarnfredarson.”

I’ll have to Netflix it.

Anyways, it apparently won all these major awards at the Icelandic Film Awards three years ago, and now, said dude — director Ragnar Bragason — is returning with a flick called “Metalhead.”

The film’s set in 1970 and “as Black Sabbath record their first album and mark the birth of heavy metal, Hera Karlsdottir is born on the cowshed floor at her parents farm in rural Iceland.”

So far, not interested.

“The years of her youth are carefree until a tragedy strikes. Her older brother is killed in an accident and Hera blames herself for his death. In her grieve she finds solace in the dark music of heavy metal and dreams of becoming a rock star.”

Yeah. Not interested.

The cast includes Ingvar E. Sigurðsson (“Jar City”, “Reykjavik-Rotterdam”), Halldora Geirharðsdóttir (“Harpoon: Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre”) plus newcomer Helga Thorbjorg Dýrfjörð in the leading role. Production starts next month with the premiere slated for fall 2013.
