Poison Singer Releases “Thorn” Remake

Why would you mess with perfection?

“Every Rose Has Its Thorn” is sort of like the “Stripes” or “Weird Science” of Poison’s vast, mostly-cheesy catalogue. That’s too say it shouldn’t be fucked with. It’s good the way it is, and doesn’t need to be regurgitated.

Unfortunately, Poison singer and pet fashion icon Bret Michaels doesn’t agree. He remade the classic tune, which will appear on his new solo album, Good Songs & Great Friends.

The album is due out March 26 on Poor Boy Records and contains a live duet with Jimmy Buffett (“Margaritaville”), a cover of “Sweet Home Alabama” with Gary Rossington, Rickey Medlocke and Peter Keys from Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Loretta Lynn on the “Rose” remake.

Music guests appearing on the disc include Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Chickenfoot’s Michael Anthony, Mountain’s Leslie West, and Kiss great Ace Frehley, among others.

Two new songs are included on the CD — the “wildly popular” ode to social media “The App Song” and “You Know You Want It.”

Apparently, I don’t know.

The album allegedly also includes guest appearances by Miley Cyrus, Bon Jovi’s Hugh McDonald, and Lita Ford’s Scot Coogan.
