Cell Phones Reviews: Nokia Shade 2705

If you wanted to explore your personal preferences you can do it now. The Nokia Shade 2705 is created for the personalization crowd of cell phone users. Take a quick look at it here in this review of a small phone with the big personality.

Nokia and others are searching to find all the niches in the mobile world. This clamshell is aimed directly at those who do not want to spend much but still get a lot. The “Shade” is at once a throw away and keeper. The phone is super light and enclosed in a plastic that would make you feel like it is a disposable model. That is also the good part. The Nokia Shade also comes with “X-Press-on” covers that change the look of the phone. Want to impress your friends and enemies ? Come to work with a red Shade one day. Come to work with a blue or purple one the next. It is your choice, but you do have to pay twenty bucks each to get the nifty color-changers. It is an outrageous price for a cover, since the phone itself is just about $30 dollars.

How about the size ? The Nokia Shade 2705 is a tiny 3.3 inches tall. It is a bit fat to be that short. It is .63 inches thick, or a bit over half an inch. For you readers not in the United States that is 84 millimeters tall and 16 millimeters thick. It has an external and an internal screen. The external one on this flip phone is only useful for things like seeing who is calling. It does have full color and is 160 by 128 pixels in resolution. The interior screen is a bit bigger at two inches. It is 220 by 176 pixels. It has full color with 262,144 colors available. This phone weighs 2.6 ounces or 74 grams. A flyweight in the world of mobile communications.

The 1.3 megapixel camera is included in this Nokia Shade. You can get it without a camera if your work prohibits having a cell with a camera. The camera version takes average looking photos and has a timer with different timing settings. The maximum wait is ten seconds.

Some technical specifications of the Shade are the MicroUSB connector and Bluetooth capability. The headphone connector is the smaller 2.5 millimeter, rather than 3.5. There is enough memory for one thousand contacts in this small Nokia wonder. There is a web browser, but no Wi-Fi. The access to the net is accomplished with the 1xRTT network, which may not be supported in your area. Texting is of course supported but the buttons on the phone are flush with the cover. This makes it harder but not impossible to fly through your texting jobs. No games are included, but you can download some into the 64 megabytes of internal memory on the Shade.

For thirty dollars you are not going to get much better than this Nokia Shade 2705. This phone was considered to be the replacement to the earlier 2605 Mirage. It is that and more. You get a large amount of technology in a small package.
