Mobile Phone Reviews: Sony Ericsson J105 Naite Smartphone – Greenheart

If you are on the ecological bandwagon you will love this new phone by Sony Ericsson. It is called “Naite” and even comes with a charger that uses less energy. Get a closer look at this phone and its “eco-friendly” ambience here in this short article.

The Greenheart revolution has begun with the Sony Ericsson J105 Naite. This phone comes with a casing that is at lest half recycled plastic. The box it is delivered in is smaller to lower the amount of trees killed to get it to you. The sleeve for protecting the Naite is made of recylcable plastic also. When the phone goes into standby mode, it uses less power than usual. You can get in two “water colors”; Vapour Silver and Ginger Red. The paint is applied in water colors to prevent the transmission of dangerous chemicals to the user.

The phone is small, at just 4.3 inches tall, but the screen is 2.2 inches in size. The screen is around half the size of the total phone. The screen has very good clarity and weighs in at 240 by 320 pixels. It is readable in most any type of bright lighting. The number of colors, which is another indicator of the quality of the display is 262,144. It is created with thin film transistor ( TFT ) technology, an advanced form of LCD displays.

Firing up the camera, we find it has two megapixels of power. This phone is average in performance. It does have photo editing and the ability to make video but it does not have flash. The audio section includes a FM radio, but the Sony Ericsson Naite does not have a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack.

You can stash 1000 contacts into the NaiteĀ“s memory. It comes with 100 megabytes of internal memory. You can start a conference call with up to five other people but there is no group calling functions. There is email service with the Sony Ericsson Naite, with the ability to assign up to seven emails per contact. Even though the phone is not a “smart” phone, it can also handle RSS fees. This is known as “Really Simple Syndication” and is similar to SMS, but usually comes just from the internet. Games and screensavers are downloadable from the internet.

You have plenty of connectivity with the Naite. It supports quad band GSM and WCDMA networks for voice transmission ( calls ) and for data, you get just about everything but Wi-Fi. The Naite comes with a web browser and JAVA applications. Bluetooth, a necessity these days, is included along with a USB port and MicroSD card slot.

The phone is put together with good quality. The back battery cover could use some more strength, but it does not create a problem with regular use. The battery powers this phone for an average amount of time for a phone of this price range. It weighs a tiny three ounces. You will find it on sale for around $140 dollars. Look for its “Greenheart twin”, the C901, to be available with many of the same features.
