United Airlines Plane Diverted to Richmond International (www.united.com)
A plane that was on route from Dulles International Airport to Rochester last Monday is said to have ended up In Richmond. It is said that the plane developed some mechanical problems shortly after taking off from the airport in Dulles.
It has been said by Express jet, the carrier that operates the flight for United Airlines, that there was a warning of a potential problem with the landing gear and that the decision was made to reroute the plane to Richmond for the safety of the passengers. The plane then landed safely in Richmond at around 11:30pm last Monday night.
At this point, it is said that the passengers and their entire luggage were quickly moved to a different plane at the airport where they were then taken to Rochester. Their plane is said to have arrived around three hours later than was expected. One man said that during the first flight they were kept in the dark about what was going on and it was only when they landed that they were told they were in Richmond. It is said that there are around a dozen of these incidents every year.
