New Love Testing Film Noir Thriller, “The Square”
“The Square”
The first feature from Australian stuntman Nash Edgerton, who had recently turned to the direction of directing. The film, which has a film-noir feeling to it, tells the story of two people who decide to jeopardize their boring and long time loveless marriages to have an affair. Ramyond meets Clara, a troubled young woman who’s controlling husband is a criminal. The two entangle in a love affair that comes to test Ramond’s moral limits when Clara offers him an offer which is hard to refuse: to take the money from her husbands last job and run away to a place where they can live quietly together without the guilt. Obviously things aren’t that simple and start going wrong when Raymond, the engineer of the plan decides to hire a arsonist, what turns put to be a fatal mistake. As the scheme gets the two deeper and deeper in to more trouble they have to confront both Clara’s husband who finds out about their secret, and a mysterious author sending them blackmail. Is their love strong enough to get them through all these tests?
