Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died at the age of 26

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died at the age of 26 from wounds sustained when he fell out of the back of a pickup, local police have affirmed.

Henry had been hurried to hospital on Wed after being discovered on Oakdale Road, a residential street in northerly Charlotte, with serious injuries.

He died on Thursday morning at Carolinas Medical Centre.

The Charlotte Observer is reporting Henry was caught up in a “domestic situation” with his bride-to-be on Peachtree Road.

His bride-to-be, Loleini Tonga, got into a pickup and drove off from the house. As she was driving, police state, Henry leapt into the back of the truck.

The domestic conflict carried on and, at some point, Henry “came out” of the back of the vehicle.

No charges have been lodged, whilst homicide detectives are looking into the incident.

Henry was in his 5th season with the Bengals and was recognised for his speed and athletic ability, but likewise for his ails off the field.

He was dogged by regular disciplinary issues, including 14-games’ worth of suspensions for breaching NFL policy and 5 arrests during his career.

He had been away from the team on injured reserve since dislocating his forearm on November 8.
