Conan O’Brien Talks About It All In “60 Minutes”
We finally got the chance to hear what Conan O’Brien has to say about the recent events of “The Tonight Show”, Jay Leno and his unplanned leave of NBC.
The host and comedian had to legally wait until May 1st before giving interviews regarding the dealings, and yesterday he was finally able to give one, wisely choosing the “60 Minute” platform to do so, while also using it as a way to give himself a promotional push.
Every one already knows that O’Brien decided to leave NBC after the latter gave up his services of hosting “The Tonight Show”, due to his decline of the idea of moving the show to the later 12:05 a.m time. The network then hired the ones of Jay Leno. O’Brien did not leave empty handed, but with an exit package of $32 million (along with the condition to not say anything offensive about the network) and the future plans of hosting a show on TBS from this coming November. O’Brien said in the interview that he has no regrets about leaving, and that he believes that things happen for a reason. He compared the whole story to a marriage quickly falling apart, while he was trying to understand what had happened.
Avoiding the trap of saying what he really thinks about Jay Leno, O’Brien often described his own feelings to indirectly counter the portrait of Leno’s character .
