Times Square Bomb Suspect Arrested At JFK Airport
The suspect of the failed bomb attack at Times Square was taken in to custody by state and federal authorities.
Faisal Shahzad is the current alleged suspect responsible for the bombing attempt on May 1, 2010. He was arrested at JFK airport at an attempt to escape the country back to Pakistan, after he was identified by U.S Attorney General as a 30-year old U.S citizen, living in Connecticut with a Pakistani origin. Apparently he is a registered Democrat in the state, and might even be an Obama donor.
He had been put down on the do-not-fly list, so while he showed his passport at the airport- the match was made. He will be brought to federal court Tuesday to face formal charges. At this point it seems as if Shahzad had no domestic accomplices. The car was a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder, which was purchased in cash and then filled up with a gasoline bomb and a 16 ounce can packed with fireworks, along with a rifle container packed with fertilizer and shrapnel.
Three messages that have been released by the Pakistani Taliban appear to be taking responsibility for the bombing attempt, yet it is still early to definitely connect these to the attack. The possibility of the connection of Revolution Muslim is also taken as an option.
