Smartphone Reviews: LG Ally, As Seen On Iron Man 2
If you think you have seen the LG Ally before, you may just be right. It has been seen on the recently released movie “Iron Man 2″. Look for the surprise on the included MicroSD card. If you think you may want an Ally, take a look at the basic features right here.
If the movie was unimpressive, the LG Ally is not. This smartphone has some of the better skillsets in the mobile smartphone world. It is being released with the Android operating system, but other models that are similar or exact copies to the Ally ( with names like “Aloha” ) that run Windows operating systems. This LG smartphone is set to do some serious work and play.
Although tomorrow ( May 11 ) is the day that LG has set for the official news release for the Ally, they have leaked a fair amount of information about it online. It will have a 3.2 inch touch screen. It will have at least a 600 megahertz processor. It may have a 1000 megahertz processor made by the people at the now-famous Snapdragon factory. It is likely to have the faster model processor. It includes a MicroSD card for tons of memory space. Some say that the first “Iron Man” movie is going to be offered for free on the Ally.
The camera on the LG Ally is a five megapixel model. For now, it looks like it will have only one camera. The Android version that will be installed is at the 2.1 level. This allows the multi touch feature that zooms in or out with a “pinch” of the screen. That is just one of the many features that Android gives this smartphone. There are over 50,000 other applications that are included in the Android market. Most of these are going to be cheaper than the iPhone apps at the iTunes store. Speaking of the display earlier, it is a 3.2 inch touch screen. There is no word yet on if it will be AMOLED or LCD.
The slider format is implemented with the Ally. It has an impressive looking four row QWERTY manual keyboard that slides out horizontally. This gives maximum space for using the buttons. The manual keyboard also includes a d-pad for navigation.
This the first Andriod model for LG and it looks destined to be showcased on the Verizon “Big Red” networks. LG says it will be including a limited-edition Marvel comic book with the Ally to help augment the “Iron Man 2″ theme of the unit. The last Iron Man movie also contained LG phones, so look for LG again if the Iron Man movies make a hit. “Augmented reality” events will be a part of the Ally and buyers will be able to interact with them on the unit.
Look for the people at Sprint to sell copies of this since it is rumored that the LG Ally will have 4G capability. This means it will be able to connect to WiMaX. WiMaX is about ten times faster than Wi-Fi. This will give the Ally enough power to compete with the HTC Evo 4G. Technology is forging ahead at lightning speed, and it seems that you can not buy a phone and it is outdated within the year. That may not be true with this model.
