Pocket Guitar is an extremely fun app whether you play guitar for real or not. The app is basically a virtual guitar and you play it by strumming your iPhone’s screen, whilst at the same time playing chords, notes etc with your other hand.

When you first launch the app it will automatically load up a usual 6 sting guitar, give it a strum and you will see that the feel and sound is extremely lifelike to an actual guitar. You will also notice that there are a few menu items at the bottom of the screen where you can alter the options.

Clicking the Settings icon at the bottom of the screen will give you a variety of options. In this menu it is possible to change the type of guitar you have and even change the amplifier settings. You can choose from a few guitars including an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar and a few others. Once you have chosen your guitar, it is then possible to change the amplifier settings, for example, you can add distortion and even effects such as delay and many others to your chosen guitar. If you are a guitar player then you will probably know what all these effects are, however, do not worry if you are not as it is still fun to play around with the different effects see what they can do.

Overally, this app is exceptional and really shows off just what the iPhone can do. The app is perfectly designed and it is possible to produce sounds from the app that are almost as good as an actual guitar. The app is available for around $1.99 from the app store and it is certainly worth this low price as you will have hours of fun playing around with it.
