Your Droid, Nexus One or Hero is a MP3 Music Playing Android Machine
If you are a music lover and you also use the Android operating system, this set of instructions is for you. If you did not know it already, your Droid, Nexus One or Hero is a MP3 music-playing Android machine. Get up with the facts on how to tap into that unknown power right here.
That great music format called the MP3 is a global music source for probably billions of people. If you have your own set of music files on your PC or other player you will need to congregate them in one place. One of the best ways to do that is to use a Micro SD card. They come in monster sizes and if your music library is larger than what one can handle you are really in need of this article ! If you can not get a USB cable, you can use “web sharing”. That is an Android app that transfers files from your computer to your smartphone using Wi-Fi. You can get it for about three dollars. That is a great price for this nice little Android app.
The second step is to get your iTunes synced to your Android device. Yes, “there is an app for that”. It is billed as the “iTunes for Android”. The name is “Double Twist”. It allows you to install your iTunes into any device. You no longer have to choose between iTunes and Android. Use both and be happy. If you happen to not like the Android interface for its music program, you can use the “bTunes Music Player”. You will probably have to get it from a friend who has it on their Android smartphone with version Froyo. They will be able to download the app to their micro SD card and install it on your own phone. This particular app is still out there, but not being downloaded or supported.
The next step is to get some new free tunes. Visit the Android market at android.com/market. You can find some free stuff there, including music, and not have to visit Amazon. Also look up an app called “Music Junk”. It has been downloaded around 50,000 to 250,000 times already. You will be able to search for, download, and keep any song for free. The price is right, it is free ! If you want to pay, you can get “tubedroid” which allows you to download videos or just their music tracks to your Androd device. It is $1.99 to buy.
Are you feeling lucky ? There are other apps that push the fringe of being legal. Getting into indie music or underground crowds could get you into trouble. If you like danger, try out “New Music Junkie”. It is £2.50, but you get music even before the DJ´s get it. It can come from unsigned artists, not just the popular people. If you trust them, they will also email your music tracks to you. It is reported ( probably falsely ) that the app has advertisments. If you are feeling outright rebellious, you can download the bittorrent client “ABTC”. It is touted as a full-featured Android app that puts music ( and television files ) straight to your smartphone.
