Yahoo To Close MyBlogLog in January

Yahoo will on the face of it close down MyBlogLog in Jan 2010. Marshall Kirkpatrick at ReadWriteWeb lays claim to have found out from “sources close to the project” that this is the case.

“Yahoo! has let the service atrophy for years and will now put it to rest,” writes Kirkpatrick. “To think that this service offered publishers and developers access to personal, demographic, taste and activity data of a website’s readers – and yet that offering has in the end gone no where – that’s downright crazy.”

MyBlogLog was in the first place formulated by Cloudspace out of the Sunshine State, but it was took on by Yahoo in Jan 2007. The business paid more than ten million bucks for it. Reported by Wikipedia, there was over 45,000 web logs subscribed at the time, and it presently possesses over 275,000 registered users.

It is no mystery that Yahoo is bringing down costs where it can. For instance, earlier this year, they closed down the onetime fashionable Geocities. Merely this week, they declared that they’d be closing down their offices for a entire week to save a little moolah.
