Will PPC Survive or will SEO Copywriting kill it?
I have personally never been a fan of PPC (Pay per Click) advertising just simply because of what can be achieved through SEO Copywriting.
I shall give you an example. Through SEO Copywriting, I managed to get a new page on a site to 2nd position for a phrase with a contention ratio of over 2,000,000 in less than 2 weeks. The cost of this was just the time spent in creating around 6 articles and knowing how to write SEO Content for the search engines.
More and more companies are hiring SEO copywriters for exactly this purpose. What is the point in spending money every month on what can amount to a huge PPC campaign, when for a fraction of the cost, the same can be achieved through natural organic search results.
So where is this going to leave those sites that rely on PPC as their primary revenue stream? Quite simply, they would be up a creek without a paddle!
But is this ever likely to happen? As much as I do not like PPC, I cannot see it dying off any time soon. The primary reason for this is that SEO Copywriters are few and far between. There are just simply not enough copywriting professionals to go around and write billions of pages that are content rich. And even if there were, someone is always going to be at the top and someone at the bottom – so those lower down the SERP’s would be in the same boat again and be forced to turn back to Pay Per Click (PPC).
There is a lot of talk right now about PPC having a limited lifespan – I don’t see how it can whilst there are companies willing to ensure that they get seen on the first page of Google, even if they do have to pay for it!
Perhaps some new revenue model will surface at some point, but right now, and as the old saying goes “If it ain’t broken’ don’t try and fix it“.
