Apple iPhone iOS4 – What’s New?

As well as the release of the brand new iPhone 4 device from Apple on June 14th 2010, they also released the latest software update for the iPhone device. This new software update, named iOS4, is available for the new iPhone 4 device as well as previous versions of the iPhone and the iPod Touch. The iOS4 operating system has some great new features that will really make using your iPhone an even better experience.

Multitasking
This is probably the biggest thing that Apple has done with the new iOS4. Before, if you wanted to run more than pone app at once, it just wasn’t possible., Apple have always stayed well clear of multitasking as they believe that if it isn’t done properly, it will drain the battery life of the phone and will make it run extremely sluggish. Now though, they think they’ve figured out a way to do it and you can now multitask if you have the iOS4 update. Although this update is available for the iPhone 3G and 3GS devices as well as the iPhone 4, multitasking is only available on the 3GS and iPhone 4 as the 3G just doesn’t have enough power to manage it. So if you have a 3G, it’s probably time to upgrade.

Unified Inbox
This is one of the best features that you get with the new iOS4 update we think. You can now view all of your emails from multiple accounts in one unified inbox. This means that it doesn’t matter if you have 5 email accounts, you will be able to view all of your email without going backwards and forwards to different inboxes on your phone. This really makes life a lot easier and Apple have done a great job in doing this.

iBooks
This is a whole new idea from Apple and they have released it for the iPhone and for the iPad. The idea is that you can now download eBooks and magazines to your iPhone or iPad using something called the iBook store. When you install the new iOs4 update, you will be asked if you want to install iBook’s, it’s free, so don’t worry. Basically, it is like the app store but for books instead of apps. Apple have done a great job and it works well whichever iPhone you use.

Overall, the new iOS4 update has a lot of new features that will really make your life even easier. The update can be downloaded for free via iTunes.
