You were free before the Library of Congress told the world you could unlock your own iPhone 4, but now at least you can feel better about it. All you do after visiting the site is to slide the button to “jailbreak” and let the iPhone 4 begin its work of liberating itself ( and you ).
After that step is done you will need to save your SHSH ID. This is a code that identifies your iPhone 4 if you ever upgrade accidentally to newer firmware. If you need a future jailbreaking, you may also need this number for verification. You should have a Cydia icon on your iPhone 4 and after bringing up the home page for this program you will see a message; “Make my life easier, thanks !”. Be sure to click on it. If it is there for more than a day, no worries, Cydia is busy. When you see the “Welcome to Cydia” page and things like; “Follow saurik on twitter.”, you have successfully completed jailbreaking your iPhone 4. Now the last thing to do is to change your root passwords. Your iPhone 4 is completely yours.
Doing the above invalidates the warranty on the iPhone 4. Most people already know this, but just in case, there you go. One of the new things you can do with your iPhone 4 now is to tether other devices to it. You can share Wi-Fi with your laptop or other device now that it is jailbroken.
