Blackberry Allowed to Continue in Saudi Arabia
There have been concerns over the past few weeks from the government of many countries in the Middle East that were concerned about the users of Blackberry Smartphone’s in their country. In fact, many countries, including Saudi Arabia were set to issue a ban on the devices from being used in their country from the 6th August this year, however, it seems that now, Blackberry and Saudi Arabia have come to an arrangement.
RIM; the manufacturers of the Blackberry Smartphone’s, have been in talks with the country over the past few weeks trying to come to some sort of arrangement in the country that would enable the users to continue to use their Smartphone’s. The country was concerned about the way the data as handled on the Smartphone’s as they actually encrypt the messages for extra security. The country was concerned that this would pose security issues for the country.
It seems now that RIM and Saudi Arabia have come to some sort of agreement and users are now free to use their Blackberry devices in the country. RIM has yet to comment on the matter but there is rumour that they may have to pace a server in Saudi Arabia in order to keep the devices functioning in the country.
