“The Spy Next Door”-Jackie Chan’s New Martial Arts Comedy
Jackie Chan’s new movie The Spy Next Door is to be released on January the 15th. Once again Chan stars in martial arts comedy film, while alongside him will also be starring Billy Ray Cyrus, Magnus Scheving and George Lopez.
Chan’s role is of a former CIA spy (Bob) who find himself facing the hardest mission yet: looking after the three kids of his girlfriend Gillian(Amber Valletta), which is also his neighbor who suddenly has to leave town . In order to get Gillian to marry him he has to win her over her kids, and he hopes to use this opportunity wisely. The plot thickens when he finds himself having to fight-off his longtime nemesis, who is a Russian terrorist, after the latter decides to pay a visit to the house. Funnily this is all caused because one of the children accidentley downloads a top secret formula. The surprising situation forces Bob to juggle the roles of prospective stepfather and spy.
Chan is mostly known for his role in the action comedy sequel Rush Hour, and is due to star in the new version of Karate Kid this year.
The Spy Next Door is directed by veteran studio helmer Brian Lvant (Are We There Yet?, Snow Dogs, The Flintstones) and financed by Relativity Media.
Among the production crew is the producer Robert Simonds which has a rich experience in comedies such as the Adam Sandler films: The Wedding Singer and Big Daddy, as well as the classic The Pink Panther.
