The Book Of Eli , Coming January 15th, Is a post–apocalyptic tale directed by the brothers Allen and Albert Hughes, based on a script by Gary Whitta.
The year is 2043, a time placed 30 years after the final war. Denzel Washington stars as Eli, a solitary man who walks his way through the ruined, lawless and empty cities of what once used to be America. Eli carries his hope for the future- the last remaining Bible which had survived 30 years after the nuclear holocaust. The Bible provides knowledge that could release society from all it’s pain and save humankind. His mission is to protect the book and deliver it to an unspecified place in the west. But there is one man who knows what power Eli holds in his hands and is determined to take over it- Carnegie, the corrupt despot of a small and crude town played by Gary Oldman. Carnegie’s step daughter Solara (Mila Kunis) finds too interest in the life beyond her fathers domain that Eli can offer her, but Eli is not about to let anyone get in his way.
Also starring: Ray Stevenson, Jennifer Beals, Frances Delatour, Michael Gambon and Tom Waits
This is the first film by the Huges brothers since their From Hell of 2001.
Warner Bros are going to distribute the film in the United States and Canada, while Columbia Pictures will do so internationally.
