“Fish Tank”- New Film Of BAFTA Winner Andrea Arnold
Fish Tank
This is the second film from the director Andrea Arnold (Red Road) which tells the story of Mia (Katie Jarvis), a messed-up fifteen-year-old girl who lives in the decaying housing projects outside of London and who is constantly living in war with her younger sister(Rebecca Griffiths) and single mother (Kierston Wareing, It’s a Free World), – a family where there is no chance for any sort of civil conversation.
Being at war with her surroundings as well,Mia is excluded from school and detested by her friends, and spends her days boozing and secretly hip-hoping. One day she meets her mother’s new charming boyfriend Connor ( Michael Fassbender, 300, Inglourious Basterds) and her life is thrown into confusion and world turned upside down. Connor soon moves in with Mia’s family and as he begins spending more time with them, she is amazed to find him returning her attention, and even encouraging her to enter a dance audition. As he promises to bring love into the family the question arises:Is he a parental figure or is he hiding false means?
