“The Lovely Bones”

Based on the best selling book by Alice Sebold and Directed by Oscar Winner Peter Jackson who also directed Heavenly Creatures, The Lord Of The Rings and King Kong.

The year is 1973 and 14-year-old Susie (Saoirse Ronan, Atonement) falls victim to rape and murder by her neighbor serial killer. As placed in ‘the in-between’, she watches her family from above and struggles her conflict of revenge on the one hand by helping her father Jack (Mark Walenberg, The Departed) and sister (Rose McIver ) find the killer, versus the need to let go and allow her family heal. Her father is obsessed by finding the murderer -motivated by feelings of guilt not having being able to protect his daughter, while her mother (Rachel Weisez, The Constant Gardener) copes by becoming numb to the situation. The story is told by Susie, as she shows the way her loved ones change during the process of trying to find her body and come to terms with her sudden death. As police gives up their investigation after feeling they have examined every possible thread, Jack decides to take matter in to his own hands. Susan Sarandon stars as Grandma Lynn who is usually occupied with cigarettes and cocktails but turns out to be the source of strength the family needs in their hard times.
